Dooreena Durbin, M.Ed.

gururaj_web3805When I embarked upon the spiritual path, my journey became crystallized when I learned the ancient art of meditation. Thirty five years later, I am still practicing meditation and have been teaching for over 30 years. In my role as the senior academic advisor for medical students at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Medicine, I have the unique opportunity to promote medical student wellness through a series of activities and events, which include meditation, yoga, and nutrition. In 1993, I had the privilege of participating in the 100th year anniversary of the Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions. I served on the Dialogue Committee with religious leaders and participated in dialogues at various religious institutions throughout the Chicago area in preparation for the Parliament. My most important role in life is “Mother”. I have raised two wonderful children, (daughter and son), who both have children of their own, so I now am a proud grandmother of two adorable grandsons.
